Here is a genuine opportunity to own one of Honda's most exotic and sought after motorcycles from the golden era of Japanese superbikes, this represents a piece of motorcycling history, and this particular example is an absolute credit to its previous owner. The CB1100R was no ordinary Honda. Produced in limited numbers between 1980 and 1983 it was Honda's homologation special, built specifically to meet production racing requirements. The "R" suffix denoted its racing pedigree, though it remained fully road legal and available to the fortunate few who could get their hands on one. Born from the earlierCB900F the CB1100R made its name on the racetracks of Australia and New Zealand, famously dominating the prestigious Castrol Six Hour races. In 1982, the same year as this beautiful example, Wayne Gardner (who would go on to become the 1987 500cc World Champion) piloted a CB1100R to victory at the Castrol Six Hour, with fellow CB1100Rs finishing second, third and fourth. That racing success cemented the model's legendary status. The 1982 RC model, like this one, featured the full fairing, aluminium fuel tank, and the iconic styling that makes these bikes so distinctive today. With only 1500 units built in 1982 the CB1`100R has always been rare. Finding one in this condition is increasingly difficult. Imported from Germany approximately 8 years ago this CB1100R has been cherished as part of a private collection. It shows just 32,000 km on the clock, which equates to a mere 20000 miles, remarkably low mileage for a machine over 40 years old. The bike has just undergone a full service. The carbs have been stripped and cleaned. A new battery has been fitted. The result is a motorcycle that starts on the button every time and idles perfectly.
