Description
Fastline Superbikes would like to offer this superb Yamaha RD500LC. What follows is the former customer's description of the bike. I purchased this from Craigs Honda in Shipley in February of 2016, the odometer showed 637km/ 395 miles. There was no evidence to support the mileage (German import) but I could find no reason to suggest it had covered that many more miles at least. Both RD Stokesy and IDP Moto(builder of the Pro Am bikes)inspected the bike and declared in their opinion, the displayed mileage was genuine and put as such in writing. I had the engine rebuilt Autumn 2017 with all new genuine Yamaha parts by a Alan "RD" Stokesy , I have a DVD of pictures covering all aspects of the build and accompanying invoices. During the work, I also had the carbs fully stripped down , cleaned and bench flow tested. The bike was then set up on the Projex dyno in Spring of 2018, eventually making 81BHP at the tyre, the gearbox and clutch are really light in action, the engine is strong and pulls really well. The front forks have been overhauled with new springs/oil by IDP moto along with HEL lines and anti dive de-link. Front and rear brakes refurbished, new Dunlop Roadsmart tyres also fitted. The chassis has been stripped, shock linkages, inspected and regreased, head bearings regreased/adjusted to spec etc. As you can imagine, given the mileage, all the mechanicals are fine order. All the fittings/fixings are to the best of my knowledge 100% original, all the hard to find parts that go AWOL over time are there , oil tank and rad retainers, uncut rear mudguard etc. The seat hump/seat pad are in excellent condition , all lugs intact etc. Essentially, the bike starts, stops and handles as good if not better than new. Cosmetic wise, it is very, very good , like any unrestored RD of the age, some evidence of age is apparent on the chassis but its still far to nice to repaint and in my opinion, it would then lose its originality. the fuel tank is solid with no rust , no dents / scratches. The paintwork is in overall excellent condition, the top fairing has no cracks around the mirror mounts and the side panels again have no cracking /splits nor have been repaired. This is extremely rare from what I've seen. There are very few marks on the paintwork but like the chassis, in my opinion to nice to repaint. I have the original owners manual, workshop manual(copy), tool kit (complete including the tank wire). This are all hard to find now and very expensive. It looks, performs and handles as it should, with documented evidence of the engine work and set up, it makes it one of the best out there.
